OUR PROJECTS
Igniting Young Minds
Igniting Young Minds is a holistic education project aimed at reaching out to children from less privileged sections of the society and providing them with academic support and life skill training.
Realising the need to address the problem of lack of LIFE SKILLS among children from less privileged backgrounds, the Leaders for Tomorrow Foundation started our Flagship Project “Igniting Young Minds” to equip children across the country with social skills and life skills along with education to transform their lives. In addition to enhancing the growth and development of children belonging to the lower economic strata in society, IYM also provides an opportunity for young college students to be socially responsible and use their acquired skills and knowledge for the betterment of society. Volunteers with IYM contribute just 2 hours on weekends for a period of 8 weeks to complete the programme successfully. The topics covered are life skills like moral values, confidence building, spoken English, etiquettes and manners, personal hygiene and general knowledge. |
ADAR- Anti-Drugs Anti-Ragging Campaign
The ADAR Campaign is an annual awareness campaign led by students across colleges to create awareness about the menaces of ragging and substance abuse.
The number of youth being exposed to substance abuse in our country is increasing by the day. With 75 per cent of Indian homes housing at least one drug user and nearly 55,000 children a day being drawn into a tobacco addition, there is an ever increasing need to take fast and effective action to confront these issues. It is with the aim to take a stand and make an impact among the youth in the capital that Leaders For Tomorrow decided to take on the issue of substance abuse and ragging among the youth. In order to make a sustained impact and ensure that the youth pay heed to the message we send across, we build a team of young leaders who want to stand up against these issues to lead the Anti-Drugs Anti-Ragging (ADAR) Campaign. These youth speak to their peers and engage them in discussing the issues of alcoholism; smoking; drug abuse and ragging that are not discussed about openly and freely. By engaging college students to lead the campaign, we ensure that the issues are discussed in a way that is appealing to each college student. Through the years, we have realised that while these issues are identified by the youth as practices to be abstained from, many fail to realize the reasons behind the same, thus making the need for an awareness campaign more necessary. Hence through the ADAR campaign, Leaders For Tomorrow focuses each year on engaging maximum youth to speak to each other regarding the side-effects of these menaces and why to stay away from them. |
Skill Development Workshop Date with Development
More than 75% of graduates in India are unemployable. The major cause for this is the lack of life skills in these youth.
To bridge this gap, Leaders For Tomorrow empowers the youth across campuses by imparting leadership and life skills. Through the Skill Development Programme we reach out to students with activity-based sessions on Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Confidence Building, Body Language, Etiquettes, Stress & Time Management and basic leadership qualities along with Group Discussion and Practical Projects on small social initiatives. These programmes help college students enhance their overall personalities, making them more competent and productive. Leaders For Tomorrow’s annual development fest that brings together 5000+ youth to interact with each other and discuss and debate on various social issues and generate ideas on how the youth can be the true agents of change using their skills.
A Date with Development is a platform where the youth comes together to interact with each other and discuss and debate on various social issues and generate ideas on how the youth can be the true agents of change. The event also becomes a way of using one’s talent to express their own view of the development issues around them and how we should work together towards finding a solution. The event includes competitions events ranging from photography, short film making, debate and essay writing to collage making, poster designing, face painting and quiz; along with workshops and panel discussions for skill development as well as spreading awareness about social issues. |
